The confectioner Hafiz Mustafa was founded by Haji Ismail Hakki Bey in 1864 in Bahcekapi, Istanbul.

Hacı İsmail Hakkı Bey, one of the first producers of sugar candy, firstly started to make rock candy with dibek stone in the basement of Eminönü Bahçekapı. Hafız Mustafa was involved in sweets and sweetheart as his father ran the store, while on the other hand he was a muezzin as a volunteer at the Arpacılar Mosque.

It is known that Hafız Mustafa was the first to find and manufacture the pastry.

  Hafiz Mustafa won 11 medals in Europe between 1926-1938 in the field of pastry and confectionery. While increasing the credibility of the brand in the national arena, it has proved its high brand recognition by introducing Turkish products to the world in the international arena.

Cemil Bey, the owner of Hafiz Mustafa, continued the same tradition and continued the brand perception under the brand name ’Çikolat Cemil Haf.

  Ottoman cuisine, sherbet, confectionery and lokum has a special place. The most famous confectionery in the palace is known as ‘my people‘ in the Ottoman dictionary and it means meş throat relief ’in Turkish. Akide sugar also has a special meaning in the Ottoman Empire, which symbolizes the commitment and faith of the Janissaries to the palace.

Although our 154-year-old plant has changed many times to the present day, our historical fabric has never been damaged.   Our business has been taken over by Hacı Avni Ongurlar and the tradition of Ahilik has been held by Hacı İsmail Hakkı Bey. Together with their prisoners, they have brought our business to its present position and have shown that they will keep them alive for long years.   The raw materials used in our products are 1. Quality and hand-made by expert craftsmen. In our products, we prefer sugar beet instead of glucose and natural root dye and natural fruit extracts instead of food coloring. Zemzem water is used in all our products.
