The Sangokushi (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) is a history of the rise and fall of the three kingdoms of Shu, Wei, and Wu during the period from the end of the Later Han Dynasty to the Three Kingdoms period (around 180 - 280), when they were competing with each other. I examined these historical issues of China from various angles and made it into an app quiz.

In later generations, based on the history book "Sangokushi" and other folklore, narratives based on the conquest of the three kingdoms during the Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties were favored, and based on these narratives, Rakanchu was born in the early Ming dynasty. When it is simply called "Sangokushi," it originally refers to the history book written by Chen Shou. On the other hand, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" is a historical novel compiled in the Ming Dynasty. While the history book "Sangokushi" regards Wei as legitimate, "Enyi" regards Shu Han as legitimate, and it can be seen that their respective views of orthodoxy are clearly different.

The preface to "Engi" begins by pointing out the problem that ``despite the importance of 'gi' in history, it is difficult to understand because it lacks common sense. Since ``Reviews'' had many errors and was disliked by gentlemen, he wrote that he wanted to draw facts mainly from Chen Shou's "Sangokushi," but that he hoped that it would be popular among readers. In other words, since "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" itself is difficult, the purpose was to increase the popularity and to "enact" the "righteousness", that is, to spread it.

Zhang Xuecheng, a historian in the middle of the Qing dynasty, described "Enyi" as "70% fact and 3% fiction," expressing that it is based on many historical facts. Journey to the West, Water Margin, and Golden Plum Blossoms, which together with Engi are included in the Four Great Classics, are mostly written in baiwa (spoken language), whereas Engi is written in literary language. There are many parts. This is because there are many quotations from historical books such as "Sangokushi" and "Shijitsukan." Nevertheless, as long as "Engi" is a novel, the fun of fictional stories and the skillfulness of expression are central to the literary nature of "Engi." It is used to express Zhuge Liang's wisdom and Yi Zetsu's righteousness.
