About Menggugat Kitab ar-Ruh

Explanation of the Purpose of Suing the Book of Ar-Ruh by Hanif Luthfi, Lc. MA.

This Android application is an explanation of the intent of suing the Book ar-Ruh by Hanif Luthfi, Lc. MA. In PDF format.

Suing the Book ar-Ruh

For some circles, Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah (d. 751 H) is a figure who is considered quite credible and represents the salaf scholars. Moreover, he was one of the closest students of Ibn Taimiyyah (d. 728 H).

His opinions are heard, his books are studied, his fatwas are followed. At least by those who today call themselves followers of the manhaj of the salaf.

But there is one book by Ibn Qayyim (d. 751 H) which they consider quite strange and eccentric.

How could it not be, in the book it is stated that the scholars of the Salaf agree that the deceased can hear the words of people who are still alive and know who visited him.

In the book, it is also mentioned that there is a sunnah and fadhilah of visiting graves on Friday, there is a sunnah and fadhilah of reading the Al-Qur'an, especially Surah Yasin in the grave, the transfer of recitation of the Al-Qur'an to the deceased is permissible and up to and including the talqin of the deceased after being buried is also included as sunnah.

Even though these things include rituals that are considered heretical by those who call themselves followers of the Manhaj of the Salaf. Why is it even considered sunnah by someone who is a role model in the practice of the Salaf.

The book is the Book of ar-Ruh.

So some of these circles were not happy if Ibn Qayyim (d. 751 H) held such an opinion. One of the narratives built is by doubting if the book ar-Ruh was really written by Ibn Qayyim. This is the first possibility. The second possibility is that the book ar-Ruh was written at the beginning of studying religion, before knowing Ibn Taimiyyah (d. 751 H).
