The Basic Law of Hungary enters into force on January 1, 2012.

The Basic Law of Hungary - the highest level source of law in the Hungarian legal hierarchy, which entered into force on January 1, 2012, replacing the Constitution of the Republic of Hungary. Based on its legal role, the Basic Law is considered a constitution, like all our previous constitutions, regardless of its name. Its text, effective on July 25, 2022, was published in a unified structure in Magyar Közlöny, No. 124 of 2022.
