The Qur'an (Qur'an Karim, Qur'an Sharif) (Arabic: القُرآن al-quran) is the holy and most important book of Islam. In the Islamic religion, the Qur'an is the words commanded by God, which were spoken by the Prophet through his angel. He revealed to Muhammad.

The Qur'an has 114 surahs and 6236 verses. The longest surah of the Quran is Surah Baqarah (286 verses), and the shortest surah is Surah Kowsar (3 verses). The longest verse of the Qur'an is the 282nd verse of Surah Baqarah.

The main aspect that distinguishes the Qur'an from other heavenly books is that it was revealed in parts over a long period of time - 23 years. The Qur'an was not transmitted directly by God but through the angel Gabriel. According to some, the last 2 verses of Surah Baqarah were revealed by God directly to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The meaning of the word Qur'an means reading, reciting. The Qur'an is a heavenly book whose words and meanings refer to revelation, which was sent down to the last prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through Gabriel (pbuh), is worshiped by recitation, and has its own characteristics, starting with Surah Fatiha and ending with Surah Nas.
