About قصائدفي رثاءالأمام الباقر(ع)

Poems of lamentation and poems of praise on the authority of Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him

Muhammad al-Baqir was born in Medina on Friday, 1 Rajab in the year 57 AH, and it was said on the third of Safar in the same year. And his birth was four years before the incident of Tuff. A number of Shiite and Sunni sources reported that his grandfather, the Prophet Muhammad, predicted the birth of Muhammad al-Baqir and named him Muhammad, as it came in the hadith on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari: “I was with the Messenger of God and al-Husayn in his lap while he was playing with him. He said, O Jabir, a son will be born to my son Al-Hussain, who is called Ali. If on the Day of Resurrection a caller will call to rise, the master of worshippers, and Ali bin Al-Hussain will rise. A son is born to Ali, who is called Muhammad. O Jabir, if you see it, read it from me. Peace be upon you.” And that the Prophet was the one who called him al-Baqir, as it came in the hadith that the Messenger of God said one day to Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari: “O Jaber, you will remain until you meet my son Muhammad bin Ali bin Al-Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib, known in the Torah as Al-Baqir. If you meet him, read him peace.

His contemporaries described him as having features like those of the Messenger of God, and that he was tall, curly, brown, with a mole on his cheek and a red mole on his body, with a droopy appearance, a good voice and a flat head. And it was narrated that he had a trace of prostration on his forehead and nose, and he was dyed with henna and katam, and he would take his bars and line his beard, and he would wear a pumice robe and a prickly bow tie, and he would send his turban behind him, and the inscription on his ring was “Glorified is God.” Al-Saduq says that he was sealed with the seal of his grandfather, Imam al-Husayn, and his inscription was “God is in control of his affairs.” His father was Ali ibn al-Hussain Zain al-Abidin, the fourth imam among the Shiites and one of the infallible and Ahl al-Bayt in the belief of the Shiites, and his mother was Fatima bint al-Hassan bin Ali, the master of the youth of the people of Paradise. He was nicknamed Umm Abdullah, and she was one of the women of Banu Hashim, and Al-Ja`far Al-Sadiq says about her: “She was a friend of hers whom she did not find in the family of Al-Hassan.” The scholar Muhsin al-Amin says that Muhammad al-Baqir was a Hashemi of the Hashemites and an Alawi of the Alawites and a Fatimid of the Fatimids, because he was the first with whom the births of al-Hasan and al-Hussain were combined. He remained with him and his companion throughout this period, and he did not leave him, and he was affected by his guidance, his knowledge, his piety, his piety, his asceticism, his severe detachment, and his turn to God. His grandfather and father used to teach him what was settled in their souls of goodness, guidance, light behavior and the right direction. And al-Mufid says that he was among his brothers the caliph of his father, his successor, and the one who led the imamate - in the Shiite sense - after him, and he excelled over their group in terms of knowledge, asceticism, and righteousness. It appears on the authority of Uhud on the authority of the sons of Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain from the sciences of religion, archeology, the Sunnah, the science of the Qur’an, the biography, and the arts of literature, what appeared from Abu Jaafar. The remnants of the Companions, the faces of the followers, and the heads of Muslim jurists narrated from him, and they wrote about him the interpretation of the Qur’an.

He died in the era of the Umayyad Caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik in the year 114 AH, poisoned, according to Shiite narrations.
