Sticky tar or tar sylvestris ( Viscária vulgáris ) form dicotyledonous flowering plants which is included in the genus Tar ( Viscaria ) family Caryophyllaceae. According to another classification, refers to the genus Smolevka ( Silene ) in the broadest sense.

Smolk glutinous is a perennial herbaceous plant. Stems erect unbranched reaching from 0.3 to 0.9 m in height glabrous at the nodes usually sticky.

Radical leaves on petioles, back-lanceolate or almost linear pointed. Cauline leaves sessile in 2-4 pairs in outline linear-lanceolate not more than 10 cm in length.

The flowers are collected in loose diacid inflorescences on the top of the shoot about 2 cm in diameter. Bracts are leaf-shaped up to 3 cm long. Calyx dyed lilac campanulate. Corolla is richly dark pink or lilac less often white the petals are very shallowly divided into two lobes ovoid.

Fruit is an ovate capsule opening with five valves. Seeds are bean-shaped dark brown.
