Vicuna - South America Biology

Vicuna is a biology learning app for South America.

Vicuna is a biology learning app. Learn to recognise wild animals and plants in South America. Get access to thousands of photos and learn topics like, Altiplano animals, Altiplano plants, pharmaceutical plants of south america, Aquatic species of South America, Mammals in South America and much more.

Advanced users are welcome to create their own list of species and share them with the community or upload their own photos. Find instructions to do this on my website nameitapp.org.

The species description text and images come from different sources like Wikipedia, Flicker and universities that publish their data under creative common licence.

The learning algorithm is based on the 5 boxes Leitner system. After the download all items are in the first box. Using the the green button moves them to the next box. Using the green button when you successfully recognise one item. Use the red button and the Item goes back one box.

Items come up randomly and the probability for an item to be shown declines with the higher boxes.

For every species 3 images and one description text are downloaded.

If you are an expert and find somer errors or bad images, you are very welcome to register at eol.org and help improve the quality of the data by taking part in the review process.

You can add your own pictures by uploading them to Flickr and share them with the encyclopedia of life, eol.org. After a review process the pictures will be available in the App.
