133 Greenways and Protected Natural Areas; disused railway tracks

This Application compiles information on more than 100 Greenways and their Protected Natural Areas. The Greenways are railway infrastructures recycled as non-motorized itineraries that articulate a sustainable tourist offer in the territory. There are already more than 3,300 km of Vías Verdes throughout the state territory.

The contents contained in this Application are the result of a study carried out by the Spanish Railways Foundation with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

"Greenways and Natura 2000 Network: Dissemination of Protected Natural Spaces and Geoparks through the State Network of Greenways" is a project whose fundamental objective is the integration and enhancement of biodiversity in the environment of greenways.

Greenways frequently cross Protected Natural Areas, the Natura 2000 Network and some Geoparks, but up to now there has not been a specific and detailed integration and enhancement of this natural heritage in the surroundings of greenways.

This APP includes this content in an integrated way and contains itinerary search engines, geo-referenced maps, technical sheets, environmental information both in text and in cartographic layers, altimetric profiles of the routes, photographs, "how to get there" and other information and interesting resources.
