Times Tables Yatzy

Your child will soon be on a roll at learning the tables!

Based around the famous dice game, Times Tables Yatzy is a great way to get your child to practise their times tables with a smile on their face.

If you have never played yatzy before, the idea is simple. You have three rolls of the dice to make a combination of runs and kinds. In Times Tables Yatzy, your child also make runs and kinds, but this time the dice are in a times table. Fun and learning combined!

When your child plays Times Tables Yatzy, they have to put the dice in the correct order of the times tables in order to make their runs. This is one of the first steps in learning any times table. It is not as easy as that though! Sometimes numbers not in the times tables appear. If your child doesn’t notice them they lose points!

Ordering the dice is a good start to learning the times tables, but your child also needs to know them in any order… This is where the speed tests come in!

In a speed test, the computer chooses questions for your child to answer against the clock. Sometimes the times tables are in order and sometimes they are mixed up. The clever thing is that the computer controls how long your child has to answer the questions - if they are struggling they get more time, and as they get better at their tables they get less time.

There is the option to have six different users, and four of them can play against one another at the same time. This means your child and their friends can compete against one another. And if you want to join in yourself, but you are not too confident on your tables, no problem! There is an option to play with normal dice. High score tables allow all of the players to see how much better they are getting and compare their scores.

To make sure that everyone continues to enjoy themselves whilst they are learning, the app automatically gives the person who is last more bonuses so that they can catch up! It doesn't matter if one player is an expert and another is just starting a times table - the app makes sure everyone has a great time!

Before each game, Times Tables Yatzy gives your child a hint on how to learn their times tables. These interesting ideas are bound to help the tables stick in your child’s mind! And if your child gets really stuck, the app will remind them of the times table they are learning and give them a hint on what their next go can be.
