The Sun Also Rises is Ernest Hemingway's novel, written in 1926. Based on real events that occurred in the life of the author. The novel The Sun Also Rises was first published in October 1926 in the United States by Charles Scribner's Sons.

In the 1920s, Hemingway lived in Paris, where he worked as a correspondent for the Toronto Star newspaper. Been in dangerous places, collecting information about the Greek-Turkish war. In 1923, together with his wife Headley Richardson, Hemingway attended the San Fermin festival in Pamplona for the first time. Bullfight charmed the writer. A year later, he again visited the fiesta, but already accompanied by friends: Eric Dorman-Smith, John Dos Passos, Donald Stewart and his wife. The third visit to the Pamplona corrida took place a year later, in 1925. This time in the company of Stuart, Bill Smith, a childhood friend, Lady Duff Twisden, her beloved Pat Guthrie and Harold Loeb. Hemingway had a conflict with the latter because of Lady Duff: both were jealous of each other. Relationship with Lady Duff and Harold Loeb Hemingway and dedicated his novel The Sun Also Rises.

In addition, Hemingway was inspired by a young matador named Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez (English Cayetano Ordóñez). The writer had a desire to write a whole book about bullfighting in the popular science genre, but the events in Pamplona prompted Hemingway to write an artistic novel The Sun Also Rises. In less than a month he wrote 14 chapters of the book and gave her the working title “Fiesta”. He completed the work on the novel Hemingway already in Paris, September 21, 1925, writing under the title: “The Lost Generation”. Hemingway first heard this quote from Gertrude Stein and decided to use it without assuming that it would become a well-known literary term.
