About Tata Cara Mengurus Jenazah

The Virtue of Visiting Sick People and Procedures for Taking Care of the Corpses

In Islam, there are procedures for caring for the corpse. Every Muslim needs to know this because it is in the Quran. The law of bathing the corpse or corpse of a Muslim is obligatory and its implementation is fardhu kifayah. However, if someone has done it, then the obligation is released.

How is the Procedure for Bathing the Body Good and Right?

1. Must cover the body from the navel to the knees.

2. Bathe in a closed place.

3. Wear gloves and clean the corpse from all the dirt.

4. Change the cover to a new hand, then clean the whole body and give it a perfume so it doesn't smell if there is an unpleasant smell coming out of the corpse.

5. Elevate the head of the corpse so that water does not flow to the head.

6. Insert the fingers that have been wrapped with a wet cloth into the corpse's mouth, brush his teeth and clean his nose, then start bathing him by leading the ablution

7. Sprinkle water on the right side of the body, while cleaning it, on the back and stomach, up to the toes. Then the left side like the first, then clean his head, beard and mustache.

8. Bathe the corpse with soapy water to clean the body and the last bath water is perfumed.

9. When bathing a corpse, treat him gently, when turning over, rubbing his limbs, pressing his stomach, softening his joints and everything that is done glorifying him.

10. Washing the corpse once and the sunnah repeats it several times in odd numbers.

11. If it comes out of a corpse that is unclean after being cleaned and touches the body, it must be removed and bathed again up to five to seven times. If the najis comes out on the shroud, the bath is not repeated, it is enough to just throw the najis away.

12. Dry the corpse after bathing with a cloth so it doesn't wet the shroud

13. After bathing, perfume the corpse's head and beard with fragrances that do not contain alcohol. The good thing is that the fragrance is camphor
