Jalalain's book of interpretations has been made the basic book in all Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia for those who wish to study the interpretation of the Koran. The language is concise, solid, and delicious. Here's a quick look at it.

This book is the only book of commentary composed by two people. Uniquely they do not do it simultaneously. Even though two people mentioned that it was composed by two people, actually Al-Mahalli and As-Suyuthi did not work on it at the same time. Each of the different compilers of that generation only wrote half of the interpretation of the Koran in his time. Because when the first mufassir composed the first part of Tafsir Jalalain, the second mufassir had just started his journey to seek knowledge.

The initial author of Tafsir Jalalain was Jalaluddin Al-Mahalli, a character born in Cairo, Egypt, in 791H/1389 AD, whose real name was Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Ahmad bin Hasyim Al-Mahalli Al-Mishri Asy-Syafi'i. Uniquely, for some reason, this great scholar who is also famous for his expertise in the fields of fiqh, kalam, nahwu and manthiq and his great works, started writing his commentary from Surah Al-Kahf which is located in the middle of the fifteenth juz and then continues backwards to sura lastly, An-Nas.

After interpreting Surah An-Nas, Al-Mahalli then returned to the front page of the Al-Quran, interpreting surah Al-Fatihah. Previously, after completing the interpretation of the first surah in the Al-Quran, he would continue with Al-Baqarah, Ali Imran and so on until the end of Al-Isra. However, fate said otherwise, when he had just finished writing the interpretation of Al-Fatihah, the Allamah returned to the presence of Allah in 864 H/1459 AD.
