About SINABI

SINABI National Library of Costa Rica Miguel Obregon

The National Library System (SINABI) is a network of libraries scattered throughout the country, consisting of the National Library and Public Library Network.

In short we have more than 150000 documents which can be accessed through the different thematic areas, with digitized files dating from the 1830 season onwards.

Libraries: Public libraries in Costa Rica made available to the public the most representative works of universal knowledge, develop efforts to promote the habit of reading and dissemination of information. They may use (but not share) accurate data on locations, including real-time geographic location of your device. The location does not leave the device, this location data is collected anonymously so that can not be used to personally identify you, and are used to show the location of the libraries closest to you.

Newspapers: 120,000 editions of 523 titles Costa Rican newspapers full text on this site.

eBooks: More than 520 books of great cultural and historical significance of Costa Rica. These have been selected by experts in each subject, and published in the nineteenth century and twentieth documents and recently published books are included.

Journals: more than 75 titles and more than 2000 numbers literary, scientific, children's magazines, education, humor and full-text newsletters are available.

Fonoteca: Fragments of Costa Rican music.

Audios

 Traveling in the history section of the National Library on the radio program "soundtrack" of Radio Universidad, the UCR. The capsules are a co-production of both institutions and aim to spread the Costa Rican culture and history by published in newspapers and magazines that keeps the National Library news. The National Library of the National Library wishes to thank Mrs. Silvia Carbonell, Director of Radio at the University of Costa Rica, and Mr. Marvin Coto radio producer.

Costa Rica at the time of the tram: microprogrammes Series produced by the School of History of the National University, the National Training Institute and the Theater of the Mind.

The purpose is to offer a vision of national history, from the daily life of the popular sectors, with particular reference to the processes of social modernization and cultural change in the first half of the twentieth century.
