Salmo 77

Great Psalm

1 I cry to God for help; I cry out to God to hear me.

2 When I am in distress, I seek the Lord; at night I stretch out my hands without ceasing; my soul is inconsolable!

3 I remember you, O God, and sigh; I begin to meditate, and my spirit fails me.

4 You do not allow me to close my eyes; so restless am I that I cannot speak.

5 I think of the days gone by, the years long gone;

6 at night I remember my songs. My heart meditates, and my spirit asks:

7 Will the Lord cast us off forever? Will he never show us his favor again?

8 Is your love gone forever? Is your promise over?

9 Has God forgotten to be merciful? In your anger have you curbed your compassion?

10 Then I thought, “The reason for my pain is that the right hand of the Most High is no longer active.”

11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord; I will remember your ancient miracles.

12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your deeds.

13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?

14 You are the God who performs miracles; you show your power among the peoples.

15 With your strong arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

16 The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and writhed; even the abysses shook.

17 The clouds poured down rain, thunder resounded in the heavens; your arrows flashed in every direction.

18 In the whirlwind, your thunder rumbled, your lightnings lit up the world; the earth shook and shook.

19 Your path passed through the sea, your way through mighty waters, and no one saw your footprints.

20 You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
