Salmo 71

Great Psalm

1 In you, Lord, I took refuge; never allow me to be humiliated.

2 Redeem and deliver me in your righteousness; incline your ear to me and save me.

3 I ask you to be my rock of refuge, where I can always go; command them to release me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

4 Deliver me, O my God, from the hands of the wicked, from the clutches of the wicked and cruel.

5 For you are my hope, O Sovereign Lord, in you is my trust from my youth.

6 From the womb I depend on you; you sustained me from my mother's bowels. I will always praise you!

7 I have become an example to many, because you are my safe refuge.

8 My mouth overflows with your praise, declaring your splendor all the time.

9 Do not reject me in my old age; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.

10 For my enemies slander me; those on the prowl gather and plan to kill me.

11 “God has forsaken him,” they say; “pursue him and arrest him, for no one will deliver him.”

12 Do not be far from me, O God; O my God, make haste to help me.

13 May my accusers perish in humiliation; be covered with mockery and shame those who want to harm me.

14 But I will always hope and praise you more and more.

15 My mouth will continually speak of your righteousness and of your countless acts of salvation.

16 I will speak of your mighty deeds, O Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteousness, your righteousness alone.

17 From my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your wonders.

18 Now that I am old and gray in hair, do not forsake me, O God, that I may speak of your strength to our children, and of your power to future generations.

19 Your righteousness reaches to the heights, O God, you who have done great things. Who compares to you, O God?

20 You, who brought me through many and severe tribulations, will restore my life, and from the depths of the earth you will raise me up again.

21 You will make me more honorable and will comfort me once more.

22 And I will praise thee with the lyre for thy faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to you, for you have redeemed me.

24 Also my tongue will always speak of your righteous acts, for those who wanted to harm me were humiliated and were frustrated.
