Salmo 56

Great Psalm

1 Have mercy on me, O God, for men press me; all the time they attack and oppress me.

2 My enemies keep pressing me; many attack me arrogantly.

3 But I, when I am afraid, will trust you.

4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and will not be afraid. What can the mere mortal do to me?

5 All the time they distort my words; they are always plotting to harm me.

6 They conspire, lie in wait, watch my steps, hoping to take my life.

7 Will you let these wicked people escape? In your wrath, O God, bring down the nations.

8 Record my lament yourself; collect my tears in your skin; Are they not noted in your book?

9 My enemies will turn back when I cry for help. With that I will know that God is on my side.

10 I trust in God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise,

11 in God I trust and will not fear. What can man do to me?

12 I will fulfill my vows to you, O God; to you I will present my offerings of gratitude.

13 For thou hast delivered me from death and from my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light that gives light to the living.
