Salmo 144

Great Psalm

1 Blessed be the Lord, my Rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

2 He is my faithful ally, my fortress, my tower of protection and my deliverer; he is my shield, the one in whom I take refuge. He subjugates the peoples to me.

3 Lord, what is man that you care for him, or the son of man that you care for him?

4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

5 Stretch out your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains so that they smoke.

6 Sends lightning and scatters enemies; shoot your arrows and make them flee.

7 From the heights, stretch out your hand and free me; save me from the immensity of the waters, from the hands of these foreigners,

8 who have lying lips, who lift up their right hands and swear falsely.

9 I will sing a new song to you, O God; I will play the ten-stringed lyre for you,

10 to him who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword.

11 Give me deliverance; save me from the hands of foreigners, who have lying lips and who, with upraised right hand, swear falsely.

12 Then, in their youth, our children will be like lush plants; our daughters, like carved columns to decorate a palace.

13 Our barns will be full of the most varied provisions. Our flocks will multiply by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;

14 our cattle will give birth; there will be no plague or abortion. There will be no cries of distress in our streets.

15 How happy are the people thus blessed! How happy are the people whose God is the Lord!!
