Great Psalm

1 Give thanks to the Lord for he is good; Your love lasts forever.

2 Let Israel say, “His love endures forever!”

3 Let the priests say: “His love endures forever!”

4 Let those who fear the Lord say, “His love endures forever!”

5 In my distress I cried to the Lord; and the Lord answered me, giving me ample liberty.

6 The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid. What can men do to me?

7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will see the defeat of my enemies.

8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in men.

9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

10 All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defeated them.

11 They surrounded me on all sides, but in the name of the Lord I defeated them.

12 They surrounded me like a swarm of bees, but they soon died out like thornbushes in flames. In the name of the Lord I defeated them!

13 They pushed me to force my fall, but the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and my song; he is my salvation.

15 Joyful shouts of victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the Lord works with power!

16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted! The right hand of the Lord works with power!”

17 I will not die; but I will live to declare the deeds of the Lord.

18 The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.

19 Open the gates of justice for me, for I want to go in to give thanks to the Lord.

20 This is the gate of the LORD, whereby the righteous enter.

21 I thank you, because you answered me and were my salvation.

22 The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

23 This comes from the Lord, and it is a wonderful thing for us.

24 This is the day that the Lord has acted; let us rejoice and be glad in this day.

25 Save us, Lord! We beg. Make us prosper, Lord! We plead.

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you.

27 The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. Join the festive procession, carrying branches to the ends of the altar.

28 You are my God; thanks I will give you! O my God, I will exalt you!
