Route++

Follow walking routes, cycling routes, routes with questions, and your own GPX routes.

The Route ++ app allows you to install walking or cycling routes that are made publicly available by other users or organizations or your own routes that are only intended for you.

The underlying platform (https://www.routeplusplus.be) is a non-profit initiative where it is essential that users, associations, organizations, etc. publish their activities themselves. The range of routes and walks is therefore poor in the beginning.

Once an activity has been installed, you can not only follow the route with the app, but also enjoy additional options that are not available in 'normal' navigation / route apps. There are 4 types of routes:

1. Routes with quiz questions en route: In that case the route contains one or more places that are indicated in the app on a route map. Your current position in the route is continuously displayed on the road map. If you come to a location during the activity from a location, you can solve one or more questions. Every correctly answered question earns you points.

2. Routes with place descriptions: The route also contains one or more locations here, but if you come close you can read a description and view photos of the visited place. This type of route is the electronic variant of popular walking maps or city walk brochures.

3. Cycling routes with only a road map (eg a cycling node route): This type of route works either with a GPX file that the author has offered on the Route ++ server or with a node route that is entered via an editor. In this case the app shows the map, your position and (if provided) information about certain places en route. For node routes, the next 2 node points and the distance still to be covered are also displayed.

4. Personal routes: These are the same kind of cycling routes as above with the difference that you create them yourself and only put them on the Route ++ server for a short time. They disappear from the server after 2 hours.

The difference with other similar apps is:

- The Route ++ app is completely free.

- Everyone can make their own routes and walks via the website.

- You do not have to register (unless you also publish activities yourself).

- No advertisements are shown.

- The app is very easy to use.

- You can directly create cycling junction routes in the app.

- You can upload your own GPX files to the server and then install it.
