Wayang Golek is a traditional Sundanese art of wayang performance made of wooden puppets, which is especially popular in the Tanah Pasundan area.The area of ​​its distribution stretches widely from Cirebon in the east to Banten in the west, even in the Central Java area bordering West Java. Abeng Sunarya (known as Abah Sunarya) is a famous puppeteer. The popularity of Giriharja puppetry art, until it is famous to the world level, is actually thanks to the efforts of Abah Sunarya as a pioneer and heir of the art of puppetry. Apart from being a puppeteer, Sunarya also made wayang golek. In 1957, he founded Padepokan Pusaka Giri Harja as a wayang golek purwa puppet course. The padepokan is located in Jelekong village, Ciparay, Bandung. Many of his students later became successful masterminds, including his own children, namely Ade Kosasih, Asep Sunandar, Ugan Sunagar, Iden Subasrana, and Agus Supangkat.
