The Crafts subject aims to develop students' knowledge, skills, attitudes and entrepreneurial spirit through self-produced products by utilizing the potential of natural resources and local wisdom in the surrounding environment.

Crafts are applied sciences that apply various fields of knowledge to solve practical problems that directly affect daily life.

The scope of the Crafts subject for class VII SMP/MTs includes four aspects, namely Crafts, Engineering, Cultivation and Processing. From these four aspects, students are expected to be able to make products by utilizing the potential and local wisdom of the natural surroundings. This class VII Engineering Crafts Book was prepared based on the Merdeka Curriculum which has been perfected, both Learning Outcomes per Phase and per Element. To help students understand the Engineering Crafts material, and achieve learning objectives, each discussion is accompanied by presentations and activity worksheets that encourage students to actively explore their environment and other learning media.

The author's hope is that this book can motivate teachers to be more creative and innovative in solving practical problems by utilizing the potential of natural resources that exist in their respective regions. The author hopes that this book can contribute to efforts to improve the quality of student learning outcomes and help preserve the crafts, culture and technology of the Indonesian nation.
