Peg Solitaire

Traditional peg jumping puzzle + cut-down puzzles. Wolstenholme notation used.

Traditional peg-jumping game where you try to get down to one peg remaining in the middle.

In addition to the classic initial layout, with 32 pegs and one empty hole in the middle, the application can also generate initial layouts with 6, 8, 10 or 12 pegs. This makes the puzzle quicker and easier to solve - but still a great challenge.

Slide or tap to move a peg.

Has an undo facility in case you change your mind - also very useful for large fingers and/or small screens.

Has a Solve feature to show you how to solve any of the initial puzzles, including the full one.

We also discuss and present a solution to the full Peg Solitaire, and introduce the Wolstenholme notation and mnemonics designed to help you remember how to solve it.
