Making of:

It started when the clinical psychologist dr. William Thetford, at Columbia University at that time in an environment of fierce competition and negative attitudes, made a decision. For him, the measure was full when he told his colleague Helen Schucman said, "There must be a better way, and I'm determined to find it." Schucman promised to help him with it.

For Dr. Schucman followed a dramatic series of waking dreams, culminating in October 1965 in her experience of a clearly audible inner voice telling her, "You will see miracles, through your hands, through mine. This is a course in miracles. Please write with me. "

During a period of seven years, and with Dr. Thetford's support in transmitting the handwritten notes resulted in around fifteen hundred typewritten pages of A Course In Miracles.

Dr. Schucman claimed no authorship of this material received through an inner, literal dictation. As she explained several times, she listened to an inner dictation, feeling the urge to write down the words, though during this process she often felt resistance, even disagreement with the content of the transmission. The voice that spoke through Helen Schucman reveals her identity as Jesus' voice. Nevertheless, for the readership a Christian thought, or the acceptance of traditional Christian beliefs, is not a necessary prerequisite for taking advantage of the lessons of the course. In fact, many of the statements in the material for traditional Christian believers may at first seem amazing or perhaps unbelievable. Perseverance and an open mindset during your studies will nonetheless be rewarded.

The Dictation of the Course in Miracles was rounded off in September 1972, with three major parts resulting in: the text, the workbook, and the teacher's guide.
