Gamification is the Next Big Thing. This is an app to demonstrate that.

Gamification takes the fun and exciting aspects of game play and applies them to business. It encourages engagement, action and learning in an enjoyable way.

Problem solving, chance, competition, reward, role play, incremental progress and just plain old fun are some of the mechanisms used in games. Using them to achieve your business objective makes sense!

Primary school teachers know this – they create games and songs and actions that support learning objectives. Parents know this – playing games in the car makes a long drive less tedious. We know this – but somewhere along the way, we grew up and decided that work is too important to be enjoyed.

Today, mobile devices are in the hands of everyone we interact with. They are easy to use and very powerful. New programming techniques means apps are now affordable and easy to manage.

Gamification is ready to use now – it is the Next Big Thing.

Our challenge is to explain how gamification works, and how it can help you. Obviously, the best way of doing this is to use gamification!

We’re using the game mechanic of a scavenger hunt as a guide to Big Things throughout the Australia East Coast. With scavenger hunts, you're given puzzles to solve one-by-one, leading you to the prize.

The Guide is the first game on the app as a general example. There are also other hunts included as examples for different scenarios; the challenges they face and examples of how gamification delivers.
