Sheikh Mishary bin Rashid Al-Afasy Mishary Rashid Ghareeb or Mohammed Rashed Al-Afasy is a new Kuwaiti international Qari, he was born in Kuwait on 5 September 1976 (Sunday 11 Ramadhan 1396 H).

He studied the Quran in the College of the Holly Quran and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Madinah (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), in the specialization of 'ten recitations and translations of the Qur'an.' He has studied Quran'ah Quran to Sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat , Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shahata Al-Samanodei, and Cheikh Abdurarea Radwan, he impressed a number of great scholars of the Quran, and he has been certified by a number of scholars from the Quran.

Sheikh Mishary Al Afasy is the Imam Masjid Al-Kabir (Grand Mosque) in Kuwait City, and every Ramadan he becomes the Tarawih Prayer Imam in this mosque.

Sheikh Alafasy is married and has two daughters and one son. He is also nicknamed Abu Nora.

On October 25, 2008, Sheikh Mishary was awarded the first Arabic Oscar Creativity by the Arab Creativity Union in Egypt. The event was sponsored by Arab League Secretary General Amr Mousa Bapak in recognition of Sheikh Mishary Alafasy's role in promoting Islamic principles and teachings utilizing modern technology to convey the message of peaceful Islam.

On March 24, 2007 Sheikh Mishary traveled to the United States and visited three mosques: the Islamic Center at California Irvine, the Islamic Institute of Orange County in California, and the ICD (Islamic Center of Detroit) in Michigan.
