About Lua Web Tutorial

Server Side Lua Web Tutorial

Lua Web Tutorial™ (LWT) is a full featured tutorial for developers interested in learning how to use Lua as a server side scripting language for designing web applications.

Note: the tutorials are automatically downloaded separately, after installing the app.

* Includes an interactive shell that allows the developer to create, insert, and execute Lua script code.

* Provides a foundational introduction for the use of Web Forms, Ajax, WebSockets, and server generated navigation menus.

The android application includes a native web application server, with functional start/stop control and is pre-configured to download and run multiple Lua tutorials.

All tutorials are accessible via a Mac or PC Host machine by entering the IP address to the phone while connected to a local network. A WebDAV server is also included with LWT allowing a mobile device to be mounted or mapped as an external hard drive.

Requirement Note:

1: The native web server is compiled for Mobile (ARM) CPUs and will not work on Intel powered tablets.

2: Select tutorials may require 'Websockets', which is found as a native feature within the Chrome Android Browser.

Uninstalling:

When uninstalling LWT, make sure that the server is fully stopped by using the stop button within the application. The server will otherwise continue to run until a hard restart occurs on the device.

Detailed Information:

The Lua web tutorials are powered by the Mako Server, a compact application and web server. See the Mako Server home page for details:

What's New in the Latest Version 1.4.1

Last updated on May 11, 2017

The native Mako Server's Java starter app was modified to circumvent a bug found in some of the older Samsung phones. The minimum Android version is now set to 4.1 since position-independent executables do not work on Android versions less than 4.1. Position-independent executables are required by Android 5.
