Comprehensive reading aims to interpret and critically understand the text, that is, the reader is not a passive entity, but an active one in the process of reading, that is, it decodes the message, interrogates it, analyzes it, criticizes it , among other things.

n this reading the reader asks the following questions: do I know the vocabulary? Which main idea or ideas does it contain? What or which secondary ideas does it contain? What kind of relationship exists between main and secondary ideas?
