About Japanese Bonsai Ideas

Take care your bonsai and get some ideas for it.

Bonsai is a Japanese art form using trees grown in containers. How do you make a Japanese bonsai tree? First step is to acquire a tree, which can be done by using one of several possible cultivation techniques. Very important however is to select a tree species that fits your circumstances.

Are you keen on keeping the tree indoors (which limits your options to sub or tropical trees that can survive indoors) or would you like to put your bonsai outside? In the latter case, most non-tropical bonsai trees will grow perfectly fine as long as they are protected from either intense sunlight or freezing temperatures. A safe bet is to select a indigenous tree species. With this short introduction you should be able to select a tree that fits your wishes, either an indoor bonsai or an bonsai outdoor.

A less expensive, but slow method for bonsai is to cultivate a tree yourself; using seeds or cuttings. It will normally take around 3-5 years before the tree can be trained, so you might want to do this as a side project.

Here are some tips on how to care for your Japanese bonsai ideas:

- Water your bonsai

The bonsai has very specific watering requirements. Approximately once a week or when the topsoil feels completely dry, immerse the entire bonsai plant in a bucket or basin of water. Once the air bubbles have risen to the top, the bonsai has absorbed enough water. Humidity is also an important consideration for the health of the bonsai. The humidity tray is unwrapped by the recipient, covered with the provided pebbles, and then the pebbles are covered with a little water. This will increase the humidity level for the tree, in addition to protecting the desk or table surface on which it is placed.

- Where to put the bonsai

The bonsai brings a natural and peaceful feel to any living space. Since it’s not technically a plant, but a tree, it makes a unique and enchanting addition to a room or outdoor space. Just make sure it gets plenty of direct sunlight, so place it either outside or indoors near a window.
