Donkey Kong Country is a 1994 platforming video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and the first game in the Donkey Kong Country series. Nintendo re-released Donkey Kong Country in the United States in September 2017 as part of the company's Super NES Classic Edition.

This game can be credited as the original Donkey Kong game, as it was the first that allowed players to control Donkey Kong. In addition, it helped to define the characters of the Kong family and create the back story that we know of now.
