Welcome to the SME Power-Up Programme (“SPU” or the “Programme”), a Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (“MSME”) capacity building and institutional strengthening solution that provides formal training programs, targeted at addressing the major impediments, which limit MSMEs growth and sustainability in an emerging economy like Nigeria. Some of these major impediments include: Inability to access impact finance & risk capital, lack of corporate governance, inadequate book-keeping & accounting skills and lack of innovation & invention for market acceptance & relevance.

MSMEs are strategic and essential for accelerating economic growth in Nigeria. They constitute about 90% of all businesses and create more than 80% of employment within the country. Therefore, the contribution of MSMEs to the Nigerian Economy cannot be overstated.

The Programme is in line with the Federal Government of Nigeria's drive towards catalysing the economy bottom-up; using the MSME sector as a major thrust towards unlocking private sector investments to complement government’s resources in sustainably growing the economy for economic diversification and associated value accretion.
