SmartTrash is an app that was built in an effort to solve the massive garbage disposal problem in Sri Lanka. One of the main causes of the garbage problem in Sri Lanka was caused by irresponsible people, who dumbed their garbage anywhere and everywhere. SmartTrash is a solution to this problem as it gives users an incentive to manage their waste responsibly through the reward that it provides. SmartTrash allows users to locate a bin to drop off their recyclable waste and rewards the user with a data or cash reward when the waste is dropped off appropriately.
