Runtown started his musical career professionally in 2007. He has a diverse musical style mix of hip-hop, R&B, reggae and rap. After moving to Lagos from Enugu State with Phyno in 2007, Runtown started doing underground collaborations with artistes like J-Martins and Timaya.

Runtown released his first single titled “Runtown” which was produced by Soge in 2007. His 2010 single titled “Forever” had a video directed by IvanEdd films.

In 2008, Runtown partnered with Phyno to form a record label called Penthauz Entertainment during which he released his first two singles “Party Like It’s 1980” and “Activity Pikin”. Runtown became a public figure after collaborating with Davido on his hit single “Gallardo” which brought him global attention.

Few months after releasing the hit single Gallardo, Runtown signed a multi-million naira endorsement contract deal with Eric Manny Entertainment owned by Nigerian billion, Prince Okwudili Umenyiora, the CEO of Dilly Motors.

In 2012, Jamaican/American singer Laza Morgan featured Runtown on a song titled “High on You” which ranked high on the Caribbean charts. Runtown has featured J Martins on his hit single “Tonight” and has also featured Phyno on his hit single “Anamachi Versace” which was produced by WizzyPro.

In an interview with NotJustOk.com, Runtown said that he acquired his musical inspirations from Sean Kingston, Bob Marley and Kanye West.

On 29th January 2014, Runtown collaborated with Davido to release his greatest hit single “Gallardo” which was produced by T-Spize. In 2014, the single “Gallardo” won him the award for Best Collaboration of The Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

He later released the video of the hit single “Gallardo” which got over 418,000 views on YouTube in its first 2 months. The video features cameos appearance from Patoranking, Skales and Phyno. It was shot in Lagos, Nigeria and directed by Clarence Peters.

On 23rd November 2015, Runtown released his first debut studio album “Ghetto University”. The album features guest appearances from DJ Khaled, Phyno, Wizkid, Uhuru, and Anatii. The album made him listed in the “Top 5 Most Streamed Artiste” in Nigeria, generating over ₦35 million from MTN Music Plus.

On 4th November 2016, Runtown released the love-themed song “Mad Over You” which charted at number 38 on Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart.

On 31st May 2016, Runtown sought to terminate his contract with Eric Manny Entertainment upon an injunction obtained by the record label from a Federal High Court in Lagos stopping Runtown from performing at events or recording songs on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label.

Runtown however denied the allegations in an exclusive interview with Joey Akan of Pulse Nigeria. In the aforementioned interview, Runtown revealed that he quit the record label due to breaches in the recording contract, threat to life and extortion.

Runtown has being nominated and has won several awards which include Best Collaboration of The Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Next Rated Act at the Headies Awards, Best Pop Artiste at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and Best Artiste of The Year at the City People Entertainment Awards.

Runtown is currently one of the richest and most influential artiste in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $2.5 million.
