If in 1282 the appearance of the White Lady on the hill or Caperrina assured the support invoked during the Angevin siege, at the time of the Sicilian Vespers, the flight of the white dove, recalled in the third stage of the Bell Tower in the Piazza Duomo, pointed to the Friar hermit Nicholas the perimeter of the church, that was to be build, already dedicated to St Mary of Alto.
