Heartkeeper

App designed for the self-management of heart diseases by the own patients.

Heartkeeper is an app designed for the self-management of heart diseases by the users, assessing the most common of them based on the experience of renowned cardiologists in Spain. These diseases are ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, hypertension, and auricular fibrillation. Heartkeeper also includes other important aspects that can influence in the heart health such as the relations between heart and pregnancy, heart and physical activity, and heart and diabetes.

Heartkeeper is divided into four sections:

- A patient medical record with personal and medical data such as allergies, known diseases, surgeries, etc. This record can be useful for medical staff in emergency situations in order to know all the important information about the patient and act in consequence.

- A section to record the user’s activities (good and bad for their conditions) and health measurements in order to behave accordingly with them. Examples of these activities are rehabilitation, physical activity or excesses (with alcohol or food intakes, for example), whereas typical measurements are blood pressure, glucose or cholesterol. These activities and measurement records are used for creating a calendar and some graphs that will help the user with the tracking of the disease.

- A section for registering the users’ medications and the hours that they should have them, offering the possibility to establish alarms to warn them. These intakes should be registered in order to create a daily record stored in the calendar.

- An informative section with medical information about the diseases that will help the patients to understand their condition, its symptoms and its treatment; and a patient guide in order to inform the users about best practices, prohibitions and life style they should adopt in order to improve their condition.

This app is perfect for heart diseases patients in order to take control over their condition, and is strongly recommended to be used with the supervision of their doctors, since this way they can also check the progress of the patient.
