We wanted to paint a wall in his new room, too, and thought it might be fun to do a little take on the diagonal closet stripes. So we dove in and painted a diagonal wall! We wanted quality brushes to use with our new paint, so we grabbed some Purdy tools while we were there and got to it!

Materials

Make Time: 2 Hours (Plus Drying Time)

Step 1: Start by taping off your diagonal line. Be sure the tape doesn’t arch at all as you’re adhering it to the wall. Smooth down the edges of the tape so that no paint will seep underneath. Cover the floor with a drop cloth.

Step 2: Grab your Purdy brush and start cutting in edges. The angled brush was crucial for this part — it was nice and sharp and made clean lines so that we didn’t need to mask the edges at all.

Step 3: Once you’ve cut in all of your corners and edges, grab your Purdy Revolution Roller. Load with paint and start painting in the large open areas of the wall. I like to paint in a “W” pattern when using a roller so that the edges of the paint blend into each other. The roller holds more paint than average, which helped lots in moving the project along quickly.

Step 4: Cover your whole wall with paint and allow the first coat to dry. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to complete your coverage.

Step 5: Carefully remove your painter’s tape.
