OUR HISTORY

HOW IT WAS

1995

Club founded by Malcolm Murphy, who was elected Chairman. The Initial Club membership was 4 people.

2002

Inaugural Johnson Arabia Dubai Creek Striders Half Marathon run with a field size of 150 runners.

2011

10th Anniversary running of Johnson Arabia Dubai Creek Striders Half Marathon with a field size of 1,500 runners.

Terry Hislop elected Malcolm Murphy from Chairman to Honorary President

2012

Johnson Arabia Dubai Creek Striders Half Marathon with a field size of 2,000 runners

2013

Dubai Creek Striders win “Fastest Team” at the Dubai Marathon (for the 3rd successive year).

Dubai Creek Striders officially registered with the government of Dubai Community Development Authority as a “Non-Profit Social Club” with its main activity being running.

Marek Szymanek elected as Chairman

2014

Dubai Creek Striders win “Fastest Ladies Team”, “Third Fastest Ladies Team” and “Second Fastest Men Team” at the Dubai Marathon

Dubai Creek Striders launch new website.

Malcolm Murphy leaves Dubai to move to Singapore – remains Club Honorary President.

2015

Margaret Rafferty becomes first female chairwoman for the club

2017

Neil Goulsbra take over the reins from Margaret as Chairman

2018

Rajesh Daryani stepped up from Vice-Chairman to Chairman
