Stand-up comedy originated in 400 B.C. with an aim of showcasing uncensored reality. It has its place of pride across the globe. However, in India, the roots of comedy can be traced back to the 70s. It has been a distinct genre in Bengali films, too, which was brought to prominence by stalwart entertainers like Bhanu Bandopadhyay, Nripati Chattopadhyay, Asit Sen, Chinmoy Roy and others who glorified Bengal and its rich heritage of comedy, both on screen and through stage performances.

Comedy Express aspires to take this popular genre to a new height. This unique platform, with its content-first approach, is a first-of-its kind road show, which brings together the star comedians of Bengal under one roof. The journey of Comedy Express will make a 1300KM road trip covering around 11 small towns, across several districts of West Bengal. This new generation entertainment event-cum-show, in its two-month long expedition will reach around 30 million consumers of Bengal.

The highlight of Comedy Express is its treasured team of performers. Mir Afsar Ali, the pride of Bengal, who revived comedy through the 9 seasons of ‘Mirakkel’, presented us with talented entertainers from various parts of Bengal. Comedy Express is one such platform which amalgamates the crème de la crème of the iconic show, Mirakkel, and brings them together on one platform. The prized team of performers include RJ Sayan, Dr.Krishnendu, Saheb, Palash, Iman, Shubhashis, Krishna, Tanmoy, Raktima, Aditya, Suman, Apurba Roy, local talents of various towns and other comedy performances including ventriloquism, dance choreography, mimicry and various other entertaining acts.

The road map of this unique journey will cover the following places: Balurghat, Raigunj, Siliguri, Malda, Krishnanagore, Durgapur, East Midnapore, Kharagpur, Bolpur, Berhampore.
