Adopter is a mobile application that allows adoptive families and pregnant women to match with each other and chat. It is free to use for expectant parents. After finding a match through Adopter, the legal paperwork is completed with an adoption attorney or adoption agency. If the adoptive family was already signed with an attorney or agency, they will complete the adoption legal process with the same organization.

In addition to helping adoptive families find birth mothers, it is beneficial for pregnant women. It allows women with unintended pregnancies to have an easy way to access adoptive families when they are deciding what to do with the pregnancy. Finding the right family could steer them towards choosing adoption.

For pregnant women who have already decided on adoption, it will be the best way to choose the most fitting adoptive family. With Adopter, pregnant women can potentially meet adoptive families from all around the country.

Open adoptions are now very common and biological mothers often stay in touch with the child and adoptive family after the adoption. Rather than giving up the child, the woman is adopting a family. The pregnant woman is choosing an adoptive family to be part of her life, as she participates in the life of the child, along with the adoptive parents.

Adoptive families in the US have an average waiting period of 18 months before matching with a pregnant woman. Adoptive families often need to self-advertise to find a pregnant woman. Having an application like Adopter allows adoptive families to more easily connect with birth mothers, saving them time and money.

Newly signed-on adoptive families (not referred by agencies or attorneys) will go through a screening consultation by an adoption service provider or provide their homestudy documents before they can match with birth mothers in the app. After the adoptive family has found a matching birth mother, they can complete the rest of the process with an adoption lawyer, or adoption agency. The adoptive family will need to pay a consultation fee to the adoption service provider. At launch, this app will work only for adoptive families in California.

Adoptive families that are referred by an adoption agency or attorney to Adopter don't need to go through the screening consultation, as they have already been screened by the agency or attorney.
