my phone had danced it self right off the dash,

I fished it out from beneath the seat,

its been so long since anyone called me.

My friend’s voice rings through my head,

sends tears to my eyes, before I've heard what he's said,

I say give me now my daily bread,

he lets me know my wife’s killer’s gone free instead.

And this man sent my love above,

So I can't sing her my peaceful love,

And maybe there's some god above,

But without her, he’s not a god I'm proud of.

What a world, what a place, what a time,

alone with what the drugs left of my mind,

I'm not sure what's really a crime,

when I’d get longer for selling a dime.

My left hand holds my gun beneath,

the jacket she last touched when she held me,

the road may be long and cold,
