Ali bin Abdul Rahman Al-Hudhaifi (May 22, 1947) is an imam and preacher of the Prophet’s Mosque from 1402 AH until now. He is considered one of the most famous reciters in the Islamic world.

He was born in the year 1 Rajab 1366 AH, corresponding to May 22, 1947 AD, in the village of Al-Qarn Al-Mustaqim in Al-Ardiyah Al-Shamaliyah, south of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region.

Sheikh Ali Abdul Rahman Al-Hudhaifi grew up in a religious family. His father was an imam and preacher in the Saudi army. He received his initial education from the scribes of his village, and recited the Holy Qur’an at the hands of Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Hudhaifi, while memorizing some of its parts. He also memorized and studied some texts in the various legal sciences. In the year 1381 AH, he joined the Salafi National School in Baljurashi Governorate and graduated there with what was equivalent to the intermediate stage. Then he joined the Scientific Institute in Baljurashi in the year 1383 AH and graduated in the year 1388 AH, completing the secondary stage.

He continued his university studies at the College of Sharia at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh in 1388 AH and graduated in 1392 AH. After his graduation, he was appointed as a teacher at the Scientific Institute in Baljurashi Governorate and taught interpretation, monotheism, grammar, morphology, and calligraphy, in addition to his imamate and public speaking at the Upper Mosque of Baljurashi Governorate.

He obtained a master’s degree from Al-Azhar University in 1395 AH, and obtained a doctorate from the same university - Department of Jurisprudence, Division of Sharia Politics - and the subject of the thesis was “Different methods of governance in Islamic law: a comparative study between Islamic schools of thought.”

He worked at the Islamic University since 1397 AH. He studied monotheism and jurisprudence in the College of Sharia. He also taught in the College of Hadith and the College of Da’wah and Fundamentals of Religion. He studied doctrines in the Department of Postgraduate Studies, and taught recitations in the College of the Holy Quran - Department of Recitations. Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi is considered one of the distinguished reciters in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic world. He has radio recordings on a number of radio stations inside and outside the Kingdom, and he has been approved for readings by a number of prominent reciters, namely:

Sheikh Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al-Zayat - License in the ten recitations.

Sheikh Amer Al-Sayyid Othman - He approved the narration of Hafs and recited to him the Seven, but he did not complete Surat Al-Baqarah due to the death of Sheikh Amer.

Sheikh Abdel Fattah Al-Qadi - He read to him a conclusion based on the narration of Hafs.

In addition to his university teaching work, Al-Hudhayfi worked and held some memberships, including:

Imam and preacher of Quba Mosque before 1398 AH, and for varying periods.

An imam and preacher at the Prophet’s Mosque from 6 Jumada al-Akhirah 1399 AH until Shaban 1401, and he was an imam only for the five obligatory prayers.

Imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque in Mecca on Ramadan 1, 1401 AH.

Imam and preacher of the Prophet’s Mosque from 1402 AH until now. He did not participate in Tarawih prayers in the Prophet’s Mosque in some years, namely 1419, 1420, and 1433 AH.

He participated as an official in Tarawih prayers in the Grand Mosque in Mecca for the following years: 1405, 1406, 1408, 1409, 1410, and 1411.

Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Reviewing the Qur’an of the Prophet’s City.

Member of the Supervising Committee for the Registration of Recited Qur’an at the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an.

Member of the Supreme Committee of the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an.
