Important information:

- Salat (Arabic: صلاة صلوات [salat]) or namaz means Islamic prayer, the second of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim is required to perform five obligatory daily prayers (farâ'idh), turned towards the qibla, which is the direction of the Ka'ba of Mecca. These prayers take place at dawn (Fajr), in the middle of the day, when the sun is at its zenith (Dhohr), in the middle of the afternoon ('Asrh), at sunset (Maghreb) and at dusk ('Icha). Each prayer consists of rakaat (prayer unit), the number of which varies according to the moment at which it is made. A rakaat consists of the recitation of the first surah of the Qur'an, Al-Fatiha, and another passage from the Qur'an (of one's choice), then of an inclination and two prostrations.

It can be done in any clean place, although for men it is strongly recommended to perform the five group prayers at the mosque. This is even more important for Friday prayers at noon (the most important of the week), and for those of the two major festivals of Islam, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. Before praying, the faithful must purify themselves (wash themselves) by performing the rite of ablutions.

- The denomination of God in Islam is done by 99 names (number generally accepted by the ulemas).

In addition to its name of Allah, which means God, or god ("without alter-ego"), other names are used to describe the deity worshiped by Muslims and are found in the Qur'an, the holy book of this religion, as well as in a prophetic hadeeth. These names are called in Arabic أسماء الله الحسنى (Asma 'Allah al-Ḥusná), that is, "the most beautiful names of God", while the attributes of God are called صفات الله (sifat Allah).

- Ramadan, sometimes spelled ramadhan رمضان, is the ninth month of the Hegira calendar.

The only month whose name appears in the Koran, Ramadan is for Muslims the "holy month par excellence" because it is the month of fasting (or saum الصوم) and contains Laylat al-Qadr (the night of Fate ليلة القدر). In French as in English, the word "Ramadan" is used indifferently to designate the holy month for Muslims and, by metonymy, fasting or saum.

The fast of the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. During this month, Muslims of the proper age according to Islamic currents should not eat, drink, smoke, or have sexual intercourse from dawn to sunset. Ramadan is considered the "month of charity" because, when it comes to an end, the faithful must pay alms, zakât al-fitr زكاة الفطر. It is also the month in which many other important events in the history of Islam are commemorated
