Players take control of the Inklings in a third person perspective. Battling online is the main mode of Splatoon 2 where two teams of four fight to control the most territory on the stage. Weapons shoot out ink and Gear gives players different Abilities.

Both a single player mode and a multiplayer mode are featured in Splatoon 2. The single player mode has players fighting the Octolings, the main enemy of the game. The single player component is built on a system of maneuverability and chaos, making the player move around with ziplines, moving platforms, and more.

Inkopolis Square is a central hub where you can with interact different players from around the world. The hub also includes shops to buy costumes and weapons, along with the ability to access different game modes and levels

While most features, weapons, and characters return from the first game, Splatoon 2 does feature enough to make it stand on its own.

Even at 5-10%, the mode is quite challenging, so turning it up higher will take a lot of coordination and teamwork.

A brand new Hero Mode is included, along with a new locale for the main hub. New characters are also introduced in the sequel
