Visit El Burgo, a municipality full of history and the charms of nature

It is located on the eastern edge of the Serranía de Ronda, in the Sierra de las Nieves Biosphere Reserve, located in a watchtower surrounded by pinchos, holm oaks, gall oaks and pines, in a natural environment of incomparable beauty.

It is no exaggeration that the entire surroundings of El Burgo constitute a privileged place for nature, where Paleolithic man has left clear traces of his past. The findings of biface type tools, made with flint and quartzite material, common in this area, are evidence of this.

Due to these qualities, it is not surprising that since Prehistory these places have been permanently inhabited. Later Celts, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, Muslims and repopulations with old Christians, after the reconquest, settled in the municipality.
