Unlocks the stories behind the portraits of the Golden Age using iBeacons

This app will only work within the range of iBeacons (Bluetooth transmitters) in the Hermitage museum in Amsterdam.

Thirty enormous 17th century group portraits from the collections of the Amsterdam Museum and the Rijksmuseum have been brought together for the first time and are on display in the Hermitage Amsterdam. These “brothers and sisters” of the Night Watch are unique in the world and it’s the first time they are exhibited together like this.

This app will unlock the stories behind the portraits of the Golden Age via social media language which makes an interesting translation of the networking that was done in the Golden Age. As soon as you’re close to a painting, you receive a friend request of one of the main characters on that painting. Once confirmed, you’ll become part of his network and the stories full of interesting connections, but also gossip, will start.
