About Fillet Weld

Weld Bead - Dimensioning of the fillet and notch weld bead

The application designs the fillet weld bead and notch weld.

Just select the welded connection model and the number of fillet weld beads, fill in the fields with the following data: Steel yield strength, inform the tensile strength in the joint and define the thickness of the steel sheets to be connected by welding, after all the data is filled, just press the Calculate button to be able to view the analysis of the welded connection.

In addition to dimensioning, the application has information on the minimum leg size of a fillet weld, the maximum leg size of a fillet weld, details of the electrode resistances and general information on welded connections.

The Fillet Weld application has an easy-to-use graphical interface.

The Fillet Weld application stands out in the sizing and checking of weld beads, mainly for its simplicity of use and agility in providing answers.

• Field of action:

Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Engineering, Production Engineering.

• Application in industries:

Metallurgy, civil construction, capital goods, among others.

• Users:

Engineers, technicians, operators, teachers, students.

• Applications:

Manufacture of machinery and equipment in general.

• Types of welded connections:

The new version of the application provides 14 (fourteen) weld bead models in joints subject to tension, bending, torsion and shear for analysis and dimensioning.

- Top joint subject to traction or compression

- Top joint subject to torsion

- Top joint subject to bending

- T-joint subject to shear

- T-joint subject to traction

- T-joint subject to bending

• All sizing formulas are presented, the Fillet Weld application makes the following checks:

1 - Check the input data

2 - Permissible stresses

      - Steel yield stress (σe)

      - Electrode breakdown voltage (fw)

3 - Weld resistance

4 - Strength of the base metal

5 - Shear stress in the weld

6 - Shear stress due to torque or torque

7 - Bending stress at the weld

8 - Maximum welding stress

9 - Calculation stress

10 - Highest rated load supported by the part

11 - Final design conclusion
