But the Word of God tells us that faith alone, without works, is dead. Many refuse to obey God's commandments, but they place much emphasis on faith. But faith must have a foundation. All the promises of God are conditional. If we do his will, if we walk in the truth, then we can ask for whatever we want, and it will be given to us.

When we try earnestly to be obedient, God hears our requests; but He will not bless us if we are in disobedience. If we choose to disobey his commandments, we can shout "Faith, faith, only faith," and the answer will come from God's sure Word: "Faith without works is dead." James 2:20 Such faith will only be like metal that resonates and cymbals it retires. To have the benefits of God's grace, we must do our part; We must work faithfully and produce fruits worthy of repentance. We are workers together with God.

We are not to sit indolence, waiting for some great occasion, to do an important work for the Master. We must not neglect the duty that is directly in our path, but we must seize the small opportunities that arise around us ...
