How do I get the driver's license?

Many people ask themselves this question as soon as they get old enough to get a driver's license. With crash courses, some can get their driver's license in just 14 days. Others need several months to do this. But what has to be done during this time? What is the process of driving license training? We'll explain that to you in this post.

Find the right driving school

In order to be able to get the driver's license, you first need a suitable driving school. You should take the time you need to find the right provider. There are big differences between the countless offers, and not just in terms of price. Therefore, you should ask around your circle of friends and best get your own impression. The easiest way to do this is with an on-site consultation or a trial lesson in theory lessons. Take a close look at everything and don't just look at the price, because it usually says little about how well the driving school and its offer suit you.

Registration, first aid course and eye test

If you have decided on a driving school, you register there for training and sign a training contract. This goes on to the responsible driver's license office in your city. At some driving schools it is part of the service to take over the journey to the office for you. But even if you have to do it yourself, it's no big deal.

For the official registration you also need two documents: for a first aid course and for an eye test. The eye test must not have been more than two years ago. In some cases, you can take the first aid course directly at the driving school. You also need a biometric passport photo when registering as well as a valid ID. If accompanied driving is an issue for you from the age of 17, you will also need the corresponding form, the signatures as well as the ID and driver's license copies of your companions.

You need this to register at the office:

* Training contract with the driving school

* Confirmation: first aid course

* Confirmation: eye test (maximum 2 years old)

* current, biometric passport photo

* a valid ID

* BF17 form & from the accompanying persons: signature, ID card and driver's license copy

Theoretical training

At the beginning of the training, the theory course in the driving school is on the program. In the case of training for class B, the classic car driver's license, 14 double hours of 90 minutes each are required by law - divided into 12 double hours of basic material and two double hours of additional material. Theoretical lessons for 14 football matches sound very long at first. But right here you can see how important it is to get a good impression of the driving school beforehand. With the right teacher who makes the lessons entertaining and varied, even this supposedly long course duration is no problem.
