Stages of Human Evolution

Scientists argue that modern man did not originate from modern anthropoid apes, which are characterized by narrow specialization (adaptation to a strictly defined lifestyle in the rainforest), but from extinct animals, the highly-organized animals, the dryopithecines, that died out millions of years ago.

According to the data of paleontological finds (fossil remains), about 30 million years ago, ancient primates of parapithecines appeared on the Earth, living in open spaces and on trees. Their jaws and teeth were like jaws and teeth of anthropoid apes. Parapithecines gave rise to modern gibbons and orangutans, as well as the extinct branch of the driopithecus. The latter in their development divided into three lines: one of them led to the modern gorilla, the other to the chimpanzee, and the third to the Australopithecus, and from it to the man. The genesis of the driopithecus with man was established on the basis of a study of the structure of his jaw and teeth, discovered in 1856 in France. The most important stage on the road to the transformation of monkey-like animals into the oldest people was the appearance of erectness. In connection with climate change and forest thinning, there has been a transition from a woody to a terrestrial way of life; to better survey the area where the ancestors of man had many enemies, they had to stand on their hind legs. In the future natural selection developed and consolidated the uprightness, and, as a consequence, the hands were freed from the functions of support and movement. So there were australopithecines - genus, which includes hominids (family of people).
