If you are an indie author who self-publishes your writing on any of the big platforms, working out your pricing can be a minefield. There's different commissions depending on your price, and these aren't consistent between marketplaces. If you publish your work on KDP, you also have to take filesize into consideration, and don't forget the new EU Digital VAT rules affect your profit too!

The eBook Royalty Calculator is a simple, straightforward answer, needing just three numbers...

•  Your selling price in USD - make sure that it ends in .99 if you want to see a commission level for iBooks, otherwise pick your price!

•  VAT rate - if your price excludes VAT or you're selling to a country outside of the EU or you're selling to someone in your own EU country, leave this at zero. To find out how it would affect your profit otherwise, enter the relevant VAT amount (more help is available in the app)

•  File size - if you list on KDP (Amazon Kindle), you need to think about how large your files are, whether you are on the 35% or 70% royalty rate.
